2011 Yearly Letter

Dear Rock Creekers

We are sending you a big Hello from our beautiful city of Naples on the Gulf.  With all the rain we have had the park is quite lush and green and also all around town. We hope you have all had enjoyable summers and are as excited about coming back as we are looking forward to seeing everyone.  Our summer was fun, we had a wedding in the Family, Judy, from Mattson Tour’s, organized a cruise for her daughters wedding. We joked that my cousin took the whole family on her honeymoon. Good for them ships are big and you can sneak away if you want to. Ha. We had a great time. Forgot how fun cruises were and how nice (for a mom) it was to have someone else do all the work.  It was only a four day but very refreshing.  Our other trip for the summer was heading to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado for the Rock Creek Reunion.  The Hoeflichs, Collins and maybe a few others did a great job organizing a Great Week!  Wow! What gorgeous scenery and what a fun place. We saw herds of elk, some playing in patches of snow on side of road, Saw some silly Floridians playing in patches of snow too. Ok, that was us, we had a snowball fight and also went rock climbing. This was Ivy's direct quote, “We had a wonderful time in Colorado with a great bunch of Rock Creek Campers at Estes Park. What a fun group! We enjoyed the activities that had been planned and the weather was beautiful.”  Her favorite was the Opry where the musicians entertained and played the many varied instruments.

We made it home in time for the rains. Those hurricanes in the Atlantic moving by dropped bucket-loads of rain on their way.  Thanks to everyone who kept us informed on how they were doing. We hope all weathered the storms okay. I believe down here it rained almost every day for several months. We had sunshine for 5 straight days last week and boy did we have the guys lined up with projects.  You’ll notice one of their projects if you look up when you get here and admire the beautiful trimmed palm trees. They have been taking 3 and 4 truckloads out of here a day.

Well, we are getting to the best part of the letter (my favorite anyway). We want to tell you about all the fun stuff we have planned for next year’s parties.  I guess the most exciting or unique is the January Party where we will be going all out on a  ROARING 20’s Party” with a Murder Mystery twist”  complete with a great Jazz Band. We are talking “ROARING 20’s” everyone, SPEAKEASY, The Cat’s Meow! So, Ladies pull out those flapper dresses and guys those gangster outfits and fedoras. We’ll park the Model A’s out front. Be practicing your Charleston (we hope to get someone to come do a class or get a video) so we can do it that night. We will need some actors and actresses, stage hands, cigarette girls, etc. Let Kristy know if you can help, she has been pumped up for this party since last year.  February is our biggest party month with two incredible parties.  We have a great Valentines Day Party with a Las Vegas theme because the entertainment is “Legends of Las Vegas”. Have any ideas for us? Bring them with you. We will also have the annual crowning of the new King and Queen.  The biggest party of the year is MARDI GRAS {beads} with the parade (best this side of New Or leans) through the park {beads}, pool party and dance. All welcome to participate and we hope you will; we need your fun ideas for the parade {beads}. It is pretty exciting to see what everybody can come up with.  We love Mardi Gras! {beads} Of Course there will be plenty of other fun parties as well.  The Welcome Back Party in November is going to be a Tacky Tourist, that should definitely be interesting (bring your cameras).   In December we go all out for The Christmas Holiday and will have our Annual Christmas Party with a special visit from Santa, Our Deck the Hall party and who can forget the beautiful luminaries at Christmas Eve and everyone caroling around the park, aha, now a have a hankering for egg nog. And I can’t forget the ever bodaciousSt. Patrick’s Day Party” in March, “we be celebratin the wearin o the green and the best corned beef dinner this side o the emerald isle” says our local leprechaun. Oh and I almost forgot our spooky Halloween wienie roast!! So come and have some fun.  We hope to have some new ideas to go over with everyone and bring yours we would love to hear them.

Please see the rate sheet and if you check closely you will note we have kept last years prices.  We hope this is a help to everyone and you can help us by please getting the word out. Invite you friends.  Tell them to save on those winter heating bills, live cheaper in the Florida sunshine. Of course the nightly dining out may change things but hopefully the restaurants will be offering deals too. They have been doing specials around town all summer. We have also listed the two Cruises we have leaving out of the park. If you haven’t gone on one in a few years you may want to try it out again. You can’t beat the value for the food, service and entertainment all in one place with great ocean front views.  Have a safe trip down and we’ll see you when you get here.  Take care!
 Jan, Jo and Ivy
